Volunteer

Pop Warner Football is a sport that thrives on community engagement. The participation of every player's family is integral to its success. Regardless of your expertise in football, there are plenty of ways you can contribute. We encourage each family to accept some form of volunteer role during the season.

Below is a list of various roles and ways to volunteer.

Board Member
We can have up to 13 volunteers on our Board of Directors. We meet 8-10 times per year in person and each board member is expected to volunteer, as needed, in addition to attending board meetings.

Head Coach & Assistant Coaches
The Head Coach is ultimately responsible for the entire team. The actions of parents, staff and players are the responsibility of the head coach.   They are responsible for making sure that all players and volunteers on their team follow Pop Warner National, WCC, and team rules. All Head Coaches are chosen by the Coronado Pop Warner Board of Directors.  When possible the Board will meet with potential head coaches in person for an interview.

All Coaches (Head & Assistants) are required to complete required training by Pop Warner related to player safety (ie. concussion, tackling, etc), mandatory reporting, and CRP.

Team Parent
Manages team communications along with business manager, coordinates game day volunteers, plans team party, assists players on the field during games.

Business Manager
Coordinates and manages all business aspects of the team. Maintains “THE BOOK” (all required player and team documentation), checks players in on game day, and ensures Minimum Play forms are properly completed at games. Assists players on the field during games. Coordinates scholastic eligibility with the Little Scholars Rep.

Checker/Spotter (1 volunteer per home and away game)
Tracks playing time to ensure minimum play requirements are met. Checker is positioned on opposing sideline to mark off opponent's minimum plays. Spotter assists opposing team's checker, marking off our team's minimum plays. This position is often the Team Parent or Business Manager. It can also vary per game.

Chain Gang (3 volunteers per home game)
Holds line markers on the sidelines for home games.

Announcer (home games only)
Announces the game from the “booth” at home games.

Score & Time Keeper (home games only)
Runs the game clock with the referee's direction.
